Sometimes the path to financial independence does not begin with great opportunities or starting capital. It begins the moment life leaves you alone with your problems — and you decide that you never again want to depend on circumstances or other people. This is exactly how the story of Olga Kartseva began — a woman who turned a personal crisis into the foundation of a new life.
Exclusively for Business Woman magazine, Olga shared her story about responsibility, inner strength, and the decision to change her own destiny.
“At one point, I realized very clearly: I no longer wanted there to be any посредники between me and money — neither a husband, nor fears, nor life circumstances,” she says.
Her journey began with a family business — a seed store. But during the most difficult period, in the off-season, her husband left the business to her after admitting to infidelity. Olga found herself alone — with a child and an unprofitable business.
It was a moment when she could have given up. Closed the store. Accepted the role of a victim of circumstances. But instead, she chose something different — to understand how to make the business profitable.
She began studying the industry more deeply, communicating extensively with suppliers, asking questions, and searching for new opportunities for growth. She learned online sales, tested new distribution channels, and mastered running a business independently.
This was not a story of overnight success. It was years of daily work, mistakes, patience, and faith in her own strength.
Six years of persistent effort brought results — Olga turned the business into a profitable one and eventually sold it as a fully operational turnkey business. That was when she realized her most important life lesson: opportunities appear where a person takes responsibility for themselves.
Later, life brought her to Israel. But even in a new country and a new marriage, she refused to allow herself to become dependent again.
Her career there began with a position as a packer at a factory. Yet deep inside, she clearly remembered that she was an engineer by education. Alongside physically demanding work, Olga studied English and mastered 3D modeling.
When she was offered a transfer to the quality control department, she unexpectedly replied:
“I want to be an engineer.”
People laughed at her. But they gave her a chance — a two-week internship.
And she used it.
Olga became the first person in the history of the factory to go from a packer to an engineer.
Today, she works as a research engineer, holds qualifications as a financial advisor, invests, and hosts podcasts about the lives of Ukrainian women abroad. Her personal experience has transformed into a mission — helping women understand finances and learn how to build their own financial foundation.
“Financial freedom is not about accidental luck. It is about consistent actions, discipline, and belief in yourself,” Olga is convinced.
Today, her message to women sounds especially powerful:
- Do not be afraid to build your life according to your own scenario.
- Do not see difficult moments as the end.
- Remember that crises often become the points of greatest growth.
The story of Olga Kartseva is an example of how one internal decision can change the entire trajectory of life. How a woman who once found herself alone with her problems eventually created a new reality for herself — strong, independent, and conscious.
Because the future begins with the decisions we make today.
