With the active participation of Ukrainian communities across Turkey and the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Turkey, the Consulates General of Ukraine in Istanbul and Antalya, numerous events took place in various cities to mark the Independence Day and the National Flag Day of Ukraine.
In Ankara, an official protocol ceremony and a joint prayer for Ukraine were held; a meeting with the families of Ukrainian prisoners of war and missing defenders took place; and Ukrainians joined the worldwide “Chain of Unity” campaign.
In Istanbul, the Consul General met with the families of Ukrainian prisoners of war and missing defenders, followed by peaceful rallies to draw attention to their plight and that of unlawfully sentenced Ukrainian soldiers; a charity fair and concert were held in the Ukrainian Park; and a prayer service along with a Divine Liturgy for Ukraine were conducted at the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker with the personal participation of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
In Antalya, a large-scale event took place in the Park of Ukrainian Culture, featuring a human chain of peace, a charity fair, a themed program, workshops, and a quiz for children; the art exhibition “Healing the Soul with Beauty” was presented; and a prayer service for Ukraine was held at the Orthodox Church of St. Alypius the Stylite, led by His Eminence Metropolitan of Pisidia, Hypertimos and Exarch of Side and Antalya.
In Bursa, a screening of the Ukrainian film “Dovbush” was held with the participation of Metropolitan Joachim of Bursa. A celebratory breakfast took place in Kocaeli. In Eskişehir, a festive concert dedicated to Ukraine’s Independence Day was held, and in Izmir, a charity fair and a rally in support of Ukraine took place.
In Antalya, the event in the park brought together representatives of the Ukrainian community, the diplomatic mission, charitable and non-governmental organizations, artists, volunteers, children, and everyone who feels close to Ukraine, its culture, and its pursuit of freedom. The event was organized by the Consulate General of Ukraine in Antalya, the “Dobrodiia” Charitable Foundation, and the “Ukrainian Family” NGO, with the support of the Muratpaşa Municipality of Antalya. One of the most symbolic moments of the event was the human chain of peace. The participants united around a giant National Flag of Ukraine, demonstrating unity, support for the Motherland, a desire for peace, and the resilience of the Ukrainian people. “Ukrainians in Turkey are united, visible, and in solidarity with Ukraine” became the main message.
