Ukrainian Traditions Abroad: Pre-Easter Pysanka Workshops Take Place in Andalusia

The pre-Easter period is traditionally a time of returning to roots, symbols, and deeper meanings. This spirit is reflected in a series of pysanka (traditional Ukrainian Easter egg) workshops that have already opened their doors in 2026 in Andalusia, Spain.

On March 21, on the initiative of Casa Ucrania de Andalucía, a master class was held, aimed mainly at beginners. The event was held in the Asociación Victoriana de Capuchinos space, with which the Ukrainian community has been cooperating for many years.

The workshop united the participants around one of the deepest symbols of Ukrainian culture – the Easter egg. For some it was the first experience, for some it was a return to traditions, but for everyone it was an opportunity to touch the Ukrainian heritage.

At the same time, the organizers are expanding the format and opening up Ukrainian culture to an international audience. One of the following master classes has already been held for Spanish women. For the presenter, it became a new experience — to work with an audience that gets acquainted with writing for the first time. The atmosphere was special: during and after the lesson, the participants shared their first Easter eggs, and these moments became truly emotional and touching.

Such initiatives today have a much deeper meaning than just cultural events. They form a space for dialogue, unite people of different cultures and convey Ukrainian traditions to the world.

Such meetings once again prove that Ukrainian culture lives where it is created, preserved and sincerely shared with others.
