On May 30–31, 2026, Milan will host the Second Ukrainian Book Festival — an event that brings together literature, art, and cultural diplomacy. One of the key participants will be designer and founder of the brand o.s.brand.de, Oksana Schoorli, who will present her авторський project “Mamyna Sorochka.”
This is more than a clothing collection. “Mamyna Sorochka” is a story created at the intersection of Ukraine and Germany, where tradition meets contemporary aesthetics, and personal experience transforms into a cultural code. At the heart of the project is the image of the sorochka (traditional shirt) as a symbol of memory, protection, and inner strength.
As part of the festival, a fashion show will present the collection in which textiles become carriers of meaning. Poems by Maryana Hrytsuniak — the designer’s mother — are integrated into the design of the garments, creating a unique dialogue between word and form. In this way, each piece transcends fashion, becoming an emotional and cultural artifact.
A separate part of the program will feature the presentation of Maryana Hrytsuniak’s book “Mamyna Sorochka and the War in Ukraine.” The publication reveals the depth of personal experiences and serves as the conceptual foundation of the collection, adding an additional layer of meaning.
The show will also feature brooches by the brand Zarmilkas from the SO — Sorochka Oberig series. These pieces continue the theme of the sorochka as a protective symbol, embodying ideas of safeguarding, ancestral memory, and identity.
Oksana Schoorli’s participation in the festival is an example of how Ukrainian creative industries are integrating into the international cultural space, shaping a new language of interaction through art, design, and profound meaning.
