The Ukrainian audio guide is now operational at the Anıtkabir Memorial—a place of remembrance for Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and one of the main symbols of Türkiye.
“Peace at Home, Peace in the World” (Turkish: Yurtta sulh, cihanda sulh) is the core political principle of Atatürk. A century ago, following the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, he effectively founded modern Türkiye and proved that a nation does not need to be an empire to occupy a worthy place in the world. Among other progressive reforms of the first President of the Republic of Türkiye was granting women the right to study, work, and vote.
The aforementioned expression became the foundation of the entire updated state’s policy. It signifies harmony and tranquility within the country, as well as friendly relations with other nations.
In memory of this prominent figure, the special Anıtkabir Memorial operates in Türkiye. It is a true national symbol—comprising a mausoleum, a museum, and a park. Official ceremonies are held here, and it is visited by many tourists. Therefore, it is particularly important that a Ukrainian audio guide has started working here. This is another step towards ensuring that the Ukrainian language is heard in the world’s leading cultural landmarks on an equal footing with other languages.
Thanks to the museum team, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Türkiye, and personally to Ambassador Nariman Dzhelyal, who worked on implementing this project, the audio guide has joined a large family of 124 Ukrainian-language audio guides in prominent locations across 60 countries.
