The Spain national team became the winner of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, defeating Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the final. The decisive match of the tournament took place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford (USA) and became the culmination of the Mundial, which was hosted this year by the USA, Canada, and Mexico. This was reported by TSN.
Regular time of the match ended without any goals scored. Spain held the territorial advantage, while the Argentine national team set a World Cup final anti-record by failing to register a single shot on target during the first 75 minutes of the meeting.

In the 90+3rd minute, Argentina was left with ten men following the dismissal of Enzo Fernández, who received a second yellow card.
The fate of the championship title was decided by Ferran Torres’ goal in the 106th minute. Following a pass from Lamine Yamal and a layoff from Nico Williams, the Spanish forward brought victory to his team with a powerful strike under the crossbar.
For the Spain national team, this title became the second in history. “La Furia Roja” won their first World Cup in 2010, also securing victory in the final after extra time.

Meanwhile, Argentina played in the World Cup final for the second consecutive time. After their triumph at the 2022 World Cup, Lionel Scaloni’s team fell just one step short of their fourth title this time.
As a reminder, in the third-place match, the England national team defeated France with a score of 6-4 in one of the highest-scoring matches of the tournament.
