A series of screenings of the Ukrainian film Second Wind is currently taking place across Canada — an emotional and inspiring story about Ukrainian veterans, resilience, recovery, and the ability to find a new “second wind” even after the most difficult challenges.
The film is being shown in 11 cities across various Canadian provinces, bringing together the Ukrainian community and everyone who wants to support Ukraine and hear real stories of courage and perseverance.
One of the project’s protagonists is Ukrainian veteran Vladyslav Shatilo, who, together with Oleksandr Pedan, participated in a marathon in Canada and completed the full 42-kilometer distance.
For Vladyslav, who uses a prosthetic limb, this became not only a physical challenge but also a powerful symbol of strength and determination. The goal of the marathon was to draw the attention of Canadian society, the media, and the international community to the situation in Ukraine and to the stories of Ukrainian veterans who continue to overcome their own challenges every day.
The first screening of the film in Canada gathered a large audience, including many Canadians who came specifically to support Ukraine and watch this story on the big screen.
Following the screening, guests took part in a live discussion and a charity auction. Attendees had the opportunity to ask Oleksandr Pedan and Vladyslav Shatilo questions about the making of the film, the climb, the preparation process, and the personal experiences behind the project.
As part of the media support from Business Woman PRO Canada and Business Woman magazine, Nadiia Yashan recorded an interview with Oleksandr Pedan. During the conversation, they discussed the creation of the film, the challenges faced during the project, and why Second Wind became much more than just a movie.
Today, this project is not only a cultural event but also an important way to speak to the world about Ukraine, our veterans, and the strength of people who, despite everything, continue moving forward.
