On April 8, 2026, in the town of Staryi Sambir in the Lviv region, a new national record of Ukraine was officially established in the categories of “Mass Events” and “Culture” — the largest number of traditional Boyko pysankas hand-painted.

The record was set as part of the cultural event “Boyko Pysanka of Unity for the Defense Forces of Ukraine,” which brought together 1,233 participants. During the event, they collectively created 2,936 pysankas, each symbolizing support, gratitude, and unity. All the pysankas will be delivered to rehabilitation centers, military units, and the front line.

People of different ages, professions, and backgrounds joined the initiative — educators, representatives of the civic sector, rescuers, military personnel, and local residents. The youngest participant was only 4 years old, highlighting the deep intergenerational value of Ukrainian traditions.
The record was officially verified by representatives of the Book of World Records: Olha Bodnar, Head of the Cultural Heritage Sector of the Stryi District State Administration; Oleksandr Sikora, Director of the NGO “Tourist Information Center of Stryi District” and multiple record holder; and Liudmyla Chykovska, volunteer and ambassador of the Hetman military tradition at the NGO “Center for the Heritage of Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi.”

During the official ceremony, diplomas were awarded to:
- The Staryi Sambir City Territorial Community
- The Department of Culture, Youth, Sports and Tourism of the Executive Committee of the Staryi Sambir City Council
- The Cultural Heritage Sector
During the event, a decision was also made to establish a permanent “Pysanka Residence,” which will serve as a center for preserving and developing Boyko cultural heritage.
This record is not only a remarkable achievement, but also a powerful symbol of Ukrainian unity, the strength of traditions, and a shared belief in victory.
