On August 23, the National Prayer Breakfast took place in Kyiv. This annual interfaith event brings together representatives of religious organizations, government officials, the diplomatic corps, military personnel, the civil sector, and the families of fallen Ukrainian defenders.
The event commenced with a joint prayer led by Metropolitan Epiphanius and the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Sviatoslav Shevchuk. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivered a welcoming address to the attendees, emphasizing the vital importance of societal unity for the sake of peace and victory.
Among approximately 500 attendees were the President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, and former Special Representative of the US President for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg. Gitanas Nausėda underscored the essential role of religious communities in rebuilding society after the war, while Keith Kellogg highlighted the significance of prayer for both Ukraine and the United States.
Representatives of the Business Woman Club and the global Ukrainian community, including directors of Business Woman international representative offices, also joined the National Prayer Breakfast. Their participation contributed to international dialogue and demonstrated the active role of Ukrainian female leaders in the country’s public life.
A dedicated symbol of the event was the Memorial Table, set up in honor of fallen Ukrainian service members. Attendees were also presented with traditional Ukrainian pies (pyrohy) from various regions of the country.
