Luxembourg Launches International Coalition to Support Ukraine

A major international initiative in support of Ukraine is launching in Luxembourg — the advocacy coalition “Defending Our Future Now,” initiated by the public organization “LUkraine Association” in partnership with European diplomatic missions and the European Commission.

The project is designed for one year and involves holding monthly events dedicated to key contemporary challenges: countering disinformation and hybrid threats, Ukraine’s reconstruction, strengthening its resilience, and the role of Ukrainian communities in Europe.

As noted by the organization’s vice president Inna Yaremenko, support for Ukraine today goes far beyond humanitarian aid. It is about protecting fundamental European values — democracy, human rights, and dignity. Therefore, it is important not only to disseminate information but also to foster a deeper understanding of the war, its causes and consequences, as well as the mechanisms of Russian propaganda influence.

The coalition’s creation involves embassies of Belgium, Czechia, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, and the United Kingdom, along with the European Commission. Such broad international support underscores the shared recognition of the importance of the Ukrainian issue for all of Europe.

One of the key elements of the initiative will be the creation of a digital advocacy platform. It will unite the voices of diplomats, politicians, journalists, volunteers, and community representatives who will share their own stories and explain why supporting Ukraine is crucial today.

The project also plans a series of thematic events to foster a sustainable support network for Ukraine in Europe and strengthen its international agency.

The coalition’s first open event will take place on March 23 at the European Parliament in Luxembourg and will be dedicated to the topic of deportation of Ukrainian children. It will feature prominent international figures, human rights defenders, and representatives of European institutions.

The “Defending Our Future Now” initiative is an example of a new quality of international cooperation, where the efforts of states, institutions, and civil society unite for a common goal — protecting freedom, human rights, and Europe’s democratic future.
