In March 2023, the settlement of Ripky in the Chernihiv region became the site of an extraordinary Ukrainian record. It was here that students of the Ripky Youth Council under the Executive Committee of the Ripky Settlement Council proved that true records are born where there is unity, determination, and a desire to help.
On March 10, ten young participants cooked 912 pancakes over an open fire in just 55 minutes, setting a Ukrainian national record for the largest number of pancakes prepared within one hour. The achievement was officially certified by Sniezhana Rozsudovska, Communications Manager of the World Records Book.
However, the main purpose of this initiative was not only to set a record. Together with their mentors, Oleksandr Siryi and Svitlana Sylenok, the young people sought to unite the community around a charitable cause and support Ukrainians affected by the war.
Following the award ceremony, a charity fair was held, during which UAH 6,000 was raised. The funds were used to assemble food packages as part of the International Headquarters for Assistance to Ukrainians project. The humanitarian aid was later delivered to eastern Ukraine to people who needed support the most.
This story became yet another example of how Ukrainian youth are capable not only of setting records but also of inspiring others through their actions, bringing entire communities together around meaningful causes.
Today, as we look back on this event, we are once again reminded that the true value of records lies not only in numbers, but also in humanity, mutual support, and the desire to make the world a better place.
