Yesterday, May 27, festive prayers, gatherings, and traditional treats for believers took place in mosques and Islamic cultural centers across Ukraine to mark the holiday of Kurban Bayram (Eid al-Adha).
The Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People and local religious communities organized celebrations in a number of locations, including:
Representative Office of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (RAMC) in Kyiv / Islamic Cultural Center of the Association of Muslim Ukraine (AMU) (Kyiv, 67/1 Beresteiskyi Ave.)
Islamic Cultural Center “IHLAS” (Kyiv, 59A/2 Chervonotkatska St.)
Crimean Tatar Cultural Center “Birlik” (Kyiv Oblast, Chayky village, 3 Hrushevskoho St.)
Bucha Mosque (Kyiv Oblast, Bucha, 14 Dymytrova St.) — the morning prayer commenced at 7:00 AM.
“Rakhma” Mosque (Lutsk, 14A Vynnychenka St.)
“Hidayet” Mosque (Lviv, 102A Vyhovskoho St.) — the prayer began at 8:00 AM.
Following the festive prayer at the Islamic Cultural Center of RAMC/AMU in Kyiv, traditional events took place, featuring treats for guests, a fair showcasing crafts by Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar artisans, children’s entertainment, and gifts. One of the highlights of the program was the traditional Crimean Tatar wrestling, Kuresh.
The organizers also noted that photo and video recording took place during the event, and attendance implied consent to the use of these materials in report publications.
