In Chernivtsi, a new record of Ukraine was officially set, which became not only a gastronomic achievement but also a symbol of preserving Ukrainian traditions. During the Petrivsky Fair, the largest parental wedding kalach in Ukraine was presented, created as an embodiment of Bukovinian wedding rituals and family blessing. The author of the record-breaking project was the NIKONOVA chain of brand stores. Together with decorative elements, the kalach weighed 665 kilograms, and its height reached 160 centimeters. For the implementation of this large-scale initiative, the founder of the company, Nataliia Nikonova, was awarded a diploma from the Book of World Records.
The official registration of the record was carried out by Mykhailo Khmelevskyi, a representative of the Book of World Records in Chernivtsi Oblast.
To create this unique product, the masters used more than 461 kilograms of flour, 171 liters of water, 1,147 eggs, over 50 kilograms of sugar, almost 27 kilograms of margarine, over 13 kilograms of yeast, 11 liters of oil, and more than 4.5 kilograms of salt.
After the official registration of the record, the kalach did not become a museum exhibit — it was divided among the guests of the fair, giving everyone the opportunity to join this historic event.
The parental wedding kalach is one of the oldest symbols of the Ukrainian wedding tradition. It embodies parental blessing, the unity of two families, prosperity, and the continuation of the family line. Each decorative element holds special significance: ears of grain symbolize abundance, doves represent love and fidelity, interlacing denotes the strength of the family union, flowers stand for beauty and prosperity, and the sun signifies protection and blessing.
This record became an example of how modern Ukrainian business can not only develop its own brand but also popularize national cultural heritage. NIKONOVA’s initiative proves once again that entrepreneurship is capable of being a driving force in preserving traditions, supporting local identity, and shaping a positive image of Ukraine.
