A national preventive health screening program for citizens aged 40 and older has been launched in Ukraine. Its goal is the early detection of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and assessment of mental health status. The program is free of charge: after submitting an application, the state provides 2,000 hryvnias to cover a basic screening. This was reported by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Examinations can be completed in public, municipal, and private healthcare facilities across Ukraine that are participating in the program. This makes preventive diagnostics more accessible and systematic, regardless of the region of residence.
Participation in the program begins with submitting an application through the Diia app. After reaching the age of 40, this can be done at any convenient time by selecting the section in the app: “Services” → “State Assistance” → “Health Screening”. Next, it is necessary to issue or use an existing Diia Card, to which funds are credited within seven days for payment of the examination.
After that, the participant independently chooses a medical institution, books an appointment, and undergoes a comprehensive screening. Based on the results, the doctor provides individual recommendations regarding further steps, prevention, and health monitoring.
As of June 3, 2026, the program has already covered more than 100,000 Ukrainians, more than 740,000 applications have been submitted, 2,155 medical institutions are participating, and the total amount of payments has exceeded 1.2 billion hryvnias.
The “Health Screening 40+” program is forming a new culture in Ukraine of responsible self-care — where prevention becomes not an exception, but a regular practice of caring for one’s health and quality of life.
