Germany to Host Conference on Pavlo Skoropadskyi and the Ukrainian Diaspora

On May 16, 2026, Wiesbaden will host the conference “The Ukrainian from Wiesbaden: Pavlo Skoropadskyi and the Ukrainian Diaspora in Germany.” This event is dedicated to the figure of Hetman Pavlo Skoropadskyi, his historical legacy, and the role of the Ukrainian community in preserving national identity abroad.

The conference will serve as a platform for dialogue on historical memory, Ukrainian statehood, cultural diplomacy, and the significance of the diaspora within the modern European context.

Special attention will be given to the Ukrainian presence in Germany—from historical figures to the current generation of Ukrainians who are shaping a new image of Ukraine today through social activism, culture, education, and international initiatives.

The event will bring together representatives of the Ukrainian community, cultural and civic organizations, historians, activists, and anyone interested in Ukrainian heritage in Europe.

International and Ukrainian partners have joined forces to organize the conference, including:

Dialogkraft Europa e.V.

Nord UA Haus e.V.

Dunstan gemeinnützige UG

A key role in the project’s implementation is played by Oksana Schoorlemmer, director of the international publication Business Woman in Germany, who actively supports Ukrainian cultural and historical initiatives in Europe.

Date: May 16, 2026

Location: Wiesbaden, Germany

The conference aims not only to reflect on history but also to demonstrate the vital importance of preserving Ukrainian identity, memory, and the cultural bond between generations—regardless of borders.
