Gender Pay Gap: Ukraine Plans to Reduce the Gap by 2030

Ukraine has launched a new phase in implementing the National Strategy for Overcoming the Gender Pay Gap, spanning until 2030. One of the key objectives is to reduce the wage gap between women and men from 18.6% to 13.6%. Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, announced this on his official Telegram channel.

September 18 marks International Equal Pay Day worldwide. This date draws attention to the issue of equal economic opportunities and the need to ensure equal pay for work of equal value.

In 2026, Ukraine kicked off the operational plan for implementing the National Strategy for 2026–2028. The document provides for the introduction of European pay transparency standards, gender-neutral job evaluation, gender audits, and the improvement of mechanisms for employers to respond to cases of discrimination based on sex, particularly regarding remuneration.

Particular attention is paid to creating conditions for balancing professional and family responsibilities. Other tasks include overcoming gender stereotypes and occupational segregation, which may affect the labor market opportunities of women and men and their economic independence.

According to the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, ensuring equal pay for work of equal value must not only be a declared principle, but a practically implemented right. Parliamentary oversight in this area aims, in particular, at upholding the principle of non-discrimination and ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men.
