Freedom of the Press and Women’s Leadership: A Synergy That Changes the World

Freedom of the Press and Women’s Leadership: A Synergy That Changes the World

On May 3, the world marks an important date — World Press Freedom Day. This is not just another day on the calendar. It is a reminder of the power of words, the responsibility of the media, and every person’s right to know the truth.

Freedom of the press is the foundation of a democratic society. Independent media shape public awareness, reveal the truth, raise difficult issues, and give a voice to those who are often unheard. In today’s world, where information spreads instantly, the role of journalism becomes even more significant — because with speed comes greater responsibility.

On this day, it is especially important to speak not only about global processes but also about concrete examples of collaboration that demonstrate the power of unity. Taking this opportunity, we would like to highlight our fruitful international cooperation between the Business Woman magazine representation in Latin America, represented by Olena Zhukova, and the magazine’s representation in Belgium, led by Lana Pelykh together with the organization Open Doors.

This partnership is more than just cooperation between countries. It is an example of how shared values, ideas, and vision can unite women leaders across different parts of the world. Together, we create more opportunities, open new horizons, and amplify the voice of every woman in the international arena.

Such initiatives are especially important in the context of press freedom. After all, independent media are not only about news. They are about creating a platform for development, support, inspiration, and interaction. They are about bringing together people who strive to change the world for the better.

This day, is also a moment of gratitude. Gratitude to journalists, editors, authors, and everyone behind the creation of high-quality content. To those who are not afraid to speak the truth, even when it is difficult.

At the same time, it is a reminder: when we work together — regardless of borders, languages, or cultures — we are capable of achieving far more.

Freedom of speech begins with each of us. And it is through collaboration, mutual support, and joint projects that it gains its true strength.

We would also like to emphasize that such international partnerships do not arise by chance. They are built on a strong foundation laid many years ago.

In our case, we sincerely thank the founder of Business Woman magazine — Anna Krysiuk — for her courage, vision, and determination. More than 10 years ago, she dared to create and implement this масштабна initiative, which today unites over 38 representations around the world.

This is not just a network — it is a large international community of women who support one another, grow, create opportunities, and shape a new reality in media and business.

It is thanks to such decisions and such people that the collaboration stories we are honored to develop and continue today have become possible.
