On August 18, Kyiv officially witnessed a new Ukrainian Record — “The Largest Embroidered Book Featuring Authentic Ornaments and Cultural Symbols of All Regions of Ukraine, Created Collectively by Employees of the State Treasury Service of Ukraine.” The unique handmade folio is 100 cm high, 93 cm wide, and consists of 54 pages.
The record was established to mark the 31st anniversary of the State Treasury Service of Ukraine and the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence, during a ceremonial event attended by representatives of the State Treasury Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, and invited guests.
The record holder was the State Treasury Service of Ukraine, represented by Head of the Treasury Tetiana Sliuz, under whose leadership the project brought together employees of the institution from all regions of the country.
The achievement was officially certified by Hanna Krysiuk, Director General of the World Records Book.
The creation of the record-breaking book required felt, canvas, wood, threads, and more than nine different embroidery techniques, including counted cross-stitch, the Danish method, satin stitch, nyzynka, and chain stitch. Treasury teams from all regions of Ukraine, the city of Kyiv, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, and the central office of the State Treasury Service joined the project.
Following its official certification, the embroidered book “The Soul of the Treasury in Embroidery — Unity in Every Stitch” became not merely an artistic exhibit, but also a symbol of Ukrainian unity and solidarity.
Each spread of the folio represents a particular region of Ukraine, featuring an embroidered regional name, coat of arms, traditional flowers, an authentic pysanka, the Tree of Life, and a regional ornament.
The project aims not only to set a record but also to draw attention to the richness of Ukraine’s cultural heritage, preserve traditional embroidery techniques, strengthen the spirit of unity, and promote national values.
