Electricity transmission tariffs for businesses may increase by approximately 30%. The issue is expected to be considered soon by the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC).
The possible increase was reported on the “Vechir.LIVE” program by Ukrainian MP Oleksii Kucherенко.
According to him, the “Ukrenergo” tariff may rise from 70 to 90 kopecks per kilowatt-hour. At the same time, no changes are expected for household consumers — the electricity tariff for the population will remain at 4.32 UAH per kWh.
However, if the tariff increases, businesses could face additional annual costs of around 30 billion UAH. Distribution tariffs for regional power distribution system operators may also rise.
Kucherенко noted that these additional costs could be included in the cost of goods and services, which may ultimately lead to higher prices for consumers.
“All of this will fall on businesses and then be included in the cost of goods and services. There are no miracles — this will trigger a chain reaction of price increases,” the MP explained.
Thus, while no direct tariff increase for households is currently expected, potential changes for businesses may indirectly affect the cost of goods and services in Ukraine.
