In the modern world, theater has long ceased to be just a stage and an auditorium. It is becoming a meeting point of cultures, a platform for self-expression, and a tool for personal development. This is exactly the mission fulfilled today by the AZA NIZI MAZA theater in Brussels—a creative space where art helps people find themselves, unlock their talents, and build new connections in an international environment.
Today, the theater is not just an acting studio. It is a cultural and educational space for children, teenagers, and adults, where everyone can develop creative abilities, communication skills, self-confidence, and emotional intelligence.
The theater’s activity takes on special significance in the multicultural environment of Brussels. For many families who moved to Belgium, the theater becomes a place of support, adaptation, and preservation of cultural identity. Through art, participants get the opportunity not only to learn stagecraft but also to maintain a connection with their native language, culture, and traditions.
A distinct milestone in the theater’s international integration was its participation in THE ART OF UNITY project, which brought together Ukraine, Greece, and Belgium. Within this initiative, two productions were created and staged, serving as an example of intercultural dialogue through art.
Today, the theater’s repertoire includes several key productions: “Evenings on a Farm Near… Brussels”, “Mavka and Her Dreams”, as well as “Birds”—a play based on the poetry of Serhiy Zhadan.
“Birds” is not just a theatrical production, but also a unique creative collaboration with Ukrainian artist Alisha Adam. During the performance, she created live paintings that became part of the stage space, forming a unified artistic atmosphere for the play. In addition, Alisha Adam is the resident artist of the AZA NIZI MAZA theater, shaping its visual aesthetics.
The theater’s philosophy is based on a combination of the classical acting school and contemporary creative practices. Here, the emphasis is placed not only on technique, stage speech, or character work, but also on personal development, the ability to listen to oneself and others, teamwork, and the freedom to express one’s individuality.
This theater remains a space of live presence and genuine human contact. For Ukrainians under temporary protection, it serves as an important pillar in a new country. That is why every project by AZA NIZI MAZA aims not only to create performances but also to build a community where creativity becomes a tool for growth, mutual understanding, and inspiration.
In times of rapid change, such initiatives hold a special value—those that help people remain open, creative, and capable of dialogue. And the AZA NIZI MAZA theater is a prime example of how art can become a force that unites people, cultures, and generations.
