Yerevan is currently hosting RISE (Research, Innovation, Science, and Engineering) 2026—an exhibition that, for the first time, brings together Armenian developments in defense technology, artificial intelligence, unmanned systems, and cybersecurity under one roof. For Armenia, this marks a significant step forward in developing its tech sector, where civilian innovations and security-focused domains are increasingly merging.
The exhibition showcases solutions in drones, AI-powered analytical systems, digital infrastructure, and engineering technologies. A substantial portion of these projects is created by local companies and startups, highlighting the growth of the country’s internal technological potential and the expansion of expertise in high-tech fields.
In recent years, Armenia has been placing a growing emphasis on high-tech development. Amid global security shifts, this sector is progressively becoming a key driver of the nation’s economic and technological development.
Ukraine’s experience over recent years has demonstrated how rapidly the defense and technology industries can evolve with the active participation of the private sector, engineering teams, and startups. Ukraine has become a prime example of how technologies, particularly unmanned systems and AI-based solutions, can fundamentally reshape approaches to defense and security.
Against this backdrop, RISE 2026 in Yerevan emerges as an important milestone in building its own technological ecosystem, blending local developments, international trends, and a growing interest in innovation.
For the region as a whole, this reflects the gradual strengthening of the high-tech sector’s role in the economy and security landscape of the South Caucasus, where technological advancement is increasingly shaping the future.
